WANDER Watercolor Kit

I just received the new Funto Wander Travel watercolour kit. I love the wood palette with great selection of colours. With the easy clip on water holder you can attach the palette and water to any surface you are working on for easy painting and access. Overall great quality in materials for the affordable price.

I took the Wander Watercolor Kit out for a spin today to paint in the park, and overall, it’s a wonderful companion for sketching on the go.

The Paints & Palette: The paints are absolutely lovely—bright, smooth, and creamy with plenty of vibrancy, meaning you only need a small amount of paint. The wooden palette looks stunning and has a very spacious mixing area that I really enjoyed using. While the 24 colours felt a bit overwhelming for me since I prefer a limited palette, I love that the pans didn't move around and were held in place nicely with the magnets. You can also change the pan sizes and personalise it with different amounts, so I might just do that next time!

The Bag & Pockets: The bag itself is gorgeous, and the easy-to-reach pockets on the outside make grabbing necessary art tools super convenient. The only minor drawback for me was that the strap felt quite long; having an adjustable strap would make it completely perfect!

The Notebook & Fineliner: The notebook size is fantastic for quick outdoor paintings. The fineliner pen is also great—it's nice and sturdy, the nib doesn't break easily, and it glided smoothly over the rough texture of the notebook paper. The ink dried quickly, meaning I could add watercolour washes in no time.

The Brush, Sponge & Water Container: The watercolour brush did its job well, though it felt a little small in my hand since I am more accustomed to full-size paint brushes. The small sponge was also mighty and super useful for wiping away any drops of water. I especially like the compactness of how the water container is held in place with the clip, which attaches securely to both the palette and the sketchbook.

Water Activation: I would also say a small water bottle would have been great to include to help activate the paint, though I completely understand them leaving one out since you can just drip water onto the colours you want to use with the water brush.

It really is a lovely watercolour kit for any plein air artist, with just a tiny tweak needed on the strap!

The travel bag is one of my favorite parts. It's compact but surprisingly spacious, and I can fit my paints, brushes, pencils, and other small art supplies without everything feeling crowded. The clip's built-in slot for the water cup is such a smart design too! It keeps everything together and makes it so easy to take outside for painting. The wooden palette is well made.
I've only started using it, but I already know this will become my little travel art companion. If I enjoy using it as much as I expect, I'll definitely come back for the 24-color version because I'd love to have a bigger color range!

I originally bought this because I wanted a portable watercolor set for weekend trips, but I didn't expect it to feel so special when I opened it.

I really like some of the small details of this kit. The water cup can be stored in the metal clip, which makes it easier to paint outdoors without having to find a special platform to place it.

Another great feature is that the small metal pans inside the palette is detachable and movable, allowing me to arrange the colors as I like and remove unwanted colors.

I haven't tested the paints yet, but they look great.

The kit is very portable, so I can just carry a bag and go to paint. I've already used it for twice urban sketching, and so far it works very well. The only drawback is that I think a sweatband should be included to absorb any residual paint and water from the brush. Overall, though, I'm satisfied with this kit.
