My 74 Year old father-in-law loves this set we bought him. He has taken up a lot of hobbies in retirement, and this is his newest: watercolor painting! Basically I have no complaints on this set, maybe more/different colors? Well, it's 48 colors and serve most uses. The painting set comes in an excellent package, well packed, everything is in good quality. The color is brilliant and vivid. The watercolor pad (paper) is pretty thick (enough) that water/color won't penetrate easily. (140lb/300gsm). I think it's about 2~4 of traditional letter size paper thickness.
Also there are enough brushes and pens for anyone including kids to start with.
A great gift for others or for self/kids painting are both perfectly fine options.

I sent two sets to brothers (grandsons, ages 12 and 18) and my daughter was pleased that they were of good quality, complete and adult-level beginner sets and not for young children. Time will tell, but happy so far.

Purchased this for my 93 y/o father-in-law who has late-stage dementia. In his younger days he was someone who loved to paint and especially liked watercolors. He was very excited to get this for his birthday and spent about 2 hours doing one painting. The paper was thick enough that it did not curl which was great. The kit also included tape which was convenient for keeping the canvas on the easel. We were also excited to see all the colors that were included. I would have like to have a pencil included so that we could sketch before we paint, but overall this was a great kit.

I had never seen such a large and extensive set of colors—I guess watercolors have come a long way since I was a kid!I love everything about the set, thr paper is good quality and easy to tear out a sheet.The brushes are good quality for the price, the only reason for one star off was the rollOf tape was smushed into the box.
